Mr. Speckner had owned and operated the Speckner Tire Service here for 40 years, and also was a realtor for 10 years before his retirement in 1960.
Born August 17, 1891, in Jennings County, he was the son of the late John and Ellen Kain Speckner. A World War I veteran and lifelong resident of the local area, he was married September 29, 1920, at Four Corners to the former Miss Mary Megel, who survives.
A member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church, he also was a member of Seymour Council No. 1252, Knights of Columbus, and Jackson County Barracks, Veterans of World War I.
Survivors, in addition to the widow, include five children, Mrs. Thomas Stewart, Edward L. Speckner and Robert F. Speckner, all of Seymour, Carl Eugene Speckner, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Mrs. Robert Wire, Indianapolis; two brothers, Lawrence and Michael Speckner, both of Seymour; one sister, Mrs. Ernest Brewer, Sr., of Seymour, and 18 grandchildren.
One son preceded him in death in infancy, and one brother and two sisters also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Wednesday from St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Reverend Father Paul Landwerlen, assistant pastor of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, officiating. Burial in Riverview Cemetery here.
Friends may call after 7 o'clock tonight at the Voss Mortuary here. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
