Claude Stewart

Claude Stewart, 80, of Bayles Lake died at 5 p.m. Wednesday (July 10, 1985) at St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton, the Reverend Paul F. Dinan officiating.   Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Thomasboro.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

Mr. Stewart was born October 10, 1904, in Brown County, Indiana, a son of Oscar and Sarah M. Sexton Stewart.   He married Marie Hauersperger August 31, 1925, in Thomasboro.   She preceded him in death April 22, 1967.   He married Sidney Kelly April 9, 1970, in Decatur.   She survives and is a resident of Illinois Knights Templar Home, Paxton.

Also surviving are seven sons, Claude Richard Stewart of Charleston, South Carolina; Donald Lee Stewart of Savannah, Georgia; Dale R. Stewart of Champaign; David W. Stewart of Ashford, Arizona; Victor E. Stewart of Loveland, Colorado; and Daniel P. Stewart of Paducah, Kentucky; two daughters, Peggy Jean Jones of Harrah, Washington and Doris Bullock of Glasgow, Kentucky; 38 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one sister, Nellie Smith, Tacoma, Washington; and one brother, Kenneth Stewart, also of Tacoma.

He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Mr. Stewart spent his early years and attended schools in Bloomington, Indiana.   He retired in 1966 from Chanute Air Force Base, where he was employed as a steamfitter.

Mr. Stewart moved from Champaign to Loda in 1969.   He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paxton.
