Catherine Helmer Mang Megel

Born: August 15, 1868     Died: January 22, 1936

Mrs. Jacob Megel, age sixty-eight, life-long resident of the Four Corners vicinity, Jennings county and mother of Mrs. A. J. Speckner, of this city, died about 10 o'clock Wednesday night at the home one mile south of Hayden.   She had been in failing health for about six weeks but her death occurred rather suddenly.

Mrs. Megel spent practically all her life in the Four Corners vicinity and was united in marriage to Mr. Megel there fifty years ago last October.   She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Four Corners and was active in its affairs.   Mrs. Megel was well known in Seymour and has a host of friends in this vicinity who mourn her death.

Besides the husband and the daughter, Mrs. Speckner, she is survived by six other children, Mrs. Charles Carr, Mrs. Joe Hauersperger, Mrs. Henry Elsner, all of the Four Corners vicinity; Miss Margaret Megel, of Cincinnati; Joe Megel and Miss Lena Megel, both at home.   A half-brother, John Haag, of this city and several brothers and sisters also survive.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Mrs. Catherine Megel, sixty-eight year old wife of Jacob Megel, died at her home in the Four Corners community, Wednesday night, January 22nd.   Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Four Corners, at nine o'clock Saturday morning conducted by the Reverend Father R. Marchino.   The burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband and several children.
