Clara Mae Grotfeld Hauersperger

Born: March 7, 1888     Died: October 9, 1966

Mrs. Clara Mae Hauersperger, 78, of Ludlow died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Carle Hospital, Urbana, where she had been a patient for 25 days.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Thomasboro, with the Reverend Father Joseph O’Dea officiating.   Burial will be in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery.

The parish rosary will be said at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in Clark-Haggenjos Funeral Home, Rantoul, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Hauersperger was born March 7, 1888, at Thomasboro, a daughter of John and Agnes Cook Grotfeld.   She was married to Matthew (Dode) Hauersperger November 28, 1905, at Kankakee.

Her husband died in 1929.   Mrs. Hauersperger had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Larry Robeck, at Ludlow in recent years.   She previously lived in the Rantoul area.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ludlow, its Alter and Rosary Society and the Harwood Community Club.   Mrs. Hauersperger also was a charter member of Rantoul Unit, VFW Auxiliary.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the building fund of Sacred Heart Church.

Besides Mrs. Robeck, Mrs. Hauersperger leaves three other daughters, Mrs. Charles Dean, Rantoul; Mrs. Claude Stewart, Champaign, and Mrs. Charles Spencer, Baltimore Maryland, and six sons, George, Bernard, William (Bob), all of Rantoul; John, Kankakee; Charles, Fisher, and James, Fort Morgan, Colorado.

Mrs. Hauersperger leaves a brother Harry Grotfeld, Thomasboro, and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Ream, New Virginia, Iowa; 32 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.
