David Jonathan Valentine

Born: December 10, 1948     Died: December 13, 1975


David J. Valentine, who was the fifth generation of the name David in the Valentine family, died December 13 at Huntington Hospital.   He was 27 years old.

A lifelong resident of Huntington, Mr. Valentine was born here December 10, 1948, son of Donald L. and Grace M. (Fox) Valentine.   His great grandfather, David Scudder Valentine, had a homestead in West Hills.

Mr. Valentine was graduated from Huntington High School, class of 1967, and had been a member of the school’s varsity baseball team.   He was a 1971 graduate of Utica College, where he was also on the varsity baseball team, and a member of the T.K.E. fraternity.

During his high school and college years, Mr. Valentine was employed as a lifeguard by the Town of Huntington at local beaches.   At the time of his death, he was employed as a real estate adjuster.

Religious services were conducted Monday at the A. L. Jacobsen Funeral Home in Huntington Station with the Reverend Arthur G. Barton of the United Methodist Church of Huntington, officiating.   Cremation was private Tuesday morning.

Besides his parents, Mr. Valentine is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Elsner, whom he married in August 1971 at St. Elizabeth’s Church; his grandmother, Isabelle Fountain, and his grandfather, Nelson Valentine, all of Huntington.
