Faye Etta Daringer Abbott

Mrs. Faye Bishop Abbett, 88, North Vernon, died this morning at 3:30 a.m. in the Columbus Convalescent Center in Columbus, having been in failing health several years.

Mrs. Abbett was born February 13, 1893, in Jennings County, the daughter of Edwin and Florence Lewis Daringer.   She was reared in Hayden in Jennings County.   She was first married to Dan R. Bishop in 1910 and he preceded her in death in 1944.   Her second marriage was to Earl Abbett in 1947 and he preceded her in death in August of 1980.

After her marriage she lived in Seymour and North Vernon, and in 1947 moved to Miami and Hollywood, Florida, where she resided for 30 years, returning to North Vernon five years ago.   She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Vernon and a 55-year member of the Eastern Star of North Vernon.

She is survived by three sons: Robert Bishop, North Vernon, and twins, Dan Bishop, Lake Placid, Florida, and Don Bishop, Pendleton; two daughters: Mrs. Alfred B. Haislup, Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Elliott, Sardinia; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six sisters: Mrs. Maggie Stevens, Indianapolis and Mrs. Jeanette Hanna, Mrs. Edith Douglas, Mrs. Marie O’Neill, Mrs. Golda Loer and Mrs. Bea Cooper, all of Anderson.   She was preceded in death by two brothers and one grandson.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Vernon Cemetery with the Reverend Paul Coates of the North Vernon First Baptist Church officiating, and with an Eastern Star memorial service.   There will be no visitation.   Arrangements are being handled by the Bass Funeral Home in Westport.
