Born March 9, 1899, in Helveila Township, he was a son of George and Barbara Speckner Luber. He was married to Alvina M. Frey, May 5, 1914, in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Highland.
Mr. Luber moved to Highland in 1960 when he retired from farming northeast of Highland in Bond County.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Church and the Holy Name Society and was a former trustee of Immaculate Conception Church at Pierron.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Arno (Lauretta) Kantner, Highland, and Mrs. Mildred Cox, Edwardsville; eight sons, Raymond of Edwardsville, Herbert of Pierron, Omer J. of Highland, Jerome of Jacksonville, Paul of Carthage, Texas, Ivan of Linthicum, Maryland, Kenneth of St. Louis, Missouri and George M. Luber, Jr. of Pocahontas; three sisters, Mrs. Ed (Mathilda) Frey and Mrs. Lena Linenfelser, Highland, and Mrs. John (Mary) Mannhard, Trenton, and one brother, John Luber of Highland. There are 32 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The body is at the Harris Funeral Home, Highland, where the Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Friday. Services will be held Saturday in St. Paul’s Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
