Henry Joseph Elsner

Born: December 25, 1891     Died: May 28, 1975

Henry Elsner, 83, 120 Washington Street, North Vernon, died Wednesday, May 28, following a long illness.   Mr. Elsner was born in Jennings county December 15, 1891, the son of John and Frances Weisel Elsner.   He was a farmer and carpenter in Spencer township and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and was on the county council for 15 years prior to his illness.

Friends may call after 2:00 Friday at the Diekhoff and Vance Funeral Home.   The rosary will be prayed at the funeral home at 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.   The funeral mass will be Saturday morning at 10:00 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial being in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Four Corners.

In April of 1913 Mr. Elsner married Rosa Megel.   She preceded him in death in 1959.   On June 21, 1961 he married Teresa Ebbing, who survives.

Other survivors include five sons, Ambrose, Seymour; Carl, Houston, Texas; Paul, Greensburg; Omer, Saudia Arabia; and Oscar, North Vernon; four daughters, Mrs. L. J. (Martha) French, Seymour; Mrs. Paul (Agnes) Cardinal, Mrs. Edward (Stella) Vogel, and Mrs. Delbert (Helen) Hauersperger, all of North Vernon; 54 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and one sister.
