Jacob N. Megel

Jacob N. Megel, 83 years old, died August 8th at the home of his son, Joe Megel of the Four Corners neighborhood.

Funeral services were held at the St. Joseph Church in charge of George Diekhoff, the Reverend Conin, officiating.

Mr. Megel was a life-long resident of the Four Corners neighborhood and also a life-long member of St. Joseph Church.

Survivors are Miss Lena Megel of Seymour, Indiana; Mrs. Charlie Carr; Mrs. Henry Elsner; Mrs Joseph Hauersperger and Joe Megel all of the Four Corners neighborhood.

Jacob N. Megel, age eighty-two, a well known resident of the Four Corners Community east of Seymour, died at the home of his son, Joseph Megel, Four Corners, Sunday morning.   He had been in failing health for about three years.

Had Mr. Megel lived three more days, he would have been eighty-three years old.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Mr. Megel was born in Jennings County on August 11, 1860.   He was married to Catherine Mang on October 27, 1885.   She preceded him in death on January 22, 1936.   He spent his entire life in the Four Corners vicinity and was a prominent member of St. Joseph's Church.

Mr. Megel is survived by seven children: Mrs. Charles Carr, Mrs. Joseph Hauersperger, Mrs. Henry Elsner, Miss Margaret Megel and Joseph N. Megel, all of Four Corners; Mrs. A. J. Speckner and Miss Lena Megel, both of Seymour.   He also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John Haley, of Four Corners and Mrs. Margaret Speck, of Seymour; twenty grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.   Four of his grandchildren are serving in the armed forces.

Funeral services for Jacob N. Megel, age eighty-two, will be conducted on his eighty-third birthday anniversary, at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Four Corners with the pastor in charge.

Mr. Megel who has a number of relatives living in Seymour, died Sunday morning at the home of his son, Joseph Megel, of Four Corners.   He had been in failing health for about three years.
