A native of Jennings County, he was born April 28, 1901, son of the late Jacob and Catherine Mang Megel.   He was married to the former Mary Casey.   She preceded him in death in 1953.

A farmer in Spencer Township all of his life, Mr. Megel had served on the Spencer Township Advisory Board and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathy Branham of North Vernon; two sons, Edward Megel of Route 4, North Vernon, and Steve Megel of Route 1, Brownstown; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Lena Megel of Seymour.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Church with burial at the church cemetery.   Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Diekhoff and Vance Funeral Home.   The Rosary will be prayed at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
