He was married to Miss Maggie A. Carr on September 22, 1867.
His occupation was carpentry. He professed religion in February 1886 and joined the Baptist Church in Hayden under the pastorate of Reverend J. G. Green, and with his wife and three of his children was a member at his death. He was a quiet, honest, industrious man, a good husband, a kind father, and a brave soldier, and honored as a pensioner.
He belonged to the Sixth Regiment, Indiana Volunteers and in the Army of the Cumberland. He passed through 14 regular battles. He was wounded three times, once at Peach Tree Creek, Stone River, and at Simpson Ridge, Tennessee. The wound he received at Stone River was thought to be the final cause of his death, which occured July 7, 1892.
He leaves behind him a wife and eight children and many friends and comrades to mourn his loss.
His age was 48 years, 7 months and 12 days.
