Lawrence Jesse French

Lawrence J. French, 65, 324 E. Laurel Street, Seymour, died Tuesday morning at the Seymour hospital after a short illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour.   Reverend Cornelius B. Sweeny will officiate.   Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery at Four Corners near Hayden.   Friends may call at the Burkholder Funeral Home, Seymour, Wednesday.   The rosary will be prayed Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Burkholder Chapel.

Mr. French was born April 25, 1912, in Jackson County to Leo and Clara Hill French.   He married Martha C. Elsner July 27, 1935.   He retired from the B&O Railroad in 1974 after being an engineer for 30 years.   He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and of the St. Ambrose Church in Seymour.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; two sons, Lawrence J. of Route 4, North Vernon and Irvin L. Huntington, New York; one daughter, Mrs. Judith Ann Carmer; three sisters, Mrs. Bernard Gerth of Route 7, North Vernon; Miss Rosella French of Seymour; and Mrs. Virginia McGuire, of Eau Gallie, Florida, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
