Leo Nicholas Speck

Born: May 26, 1891     Died: July 10, 1967

Leo Speck, 76, a retired carpenter, died today at Schneck Memorial Hospital following a long illness.   He had been hospitalized a week ago.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and in charge of the Diekhoff and Vance Funeral Home at North Vernon.

A lifelong resident of the Four Corners community, he was born on May 26, 1891 to the late Peter and Margaret Megel Speck, at Four Corners.   He was married at Dayton, Kentucky, February 23, 1916 to the former Mary Leflett.

Mr. Speck was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Four Corners, and Father James Dede, pastor, will officiate at the funeral services.

Surviving, in addition to the widow, are three sons, Floyd, North Vernon, Wilfred, St. Petersburg, Florida, and Delmer Speck, Pinellas Park, Florida; a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Colvin, Seymour; two brothers, Otto Speck, Perry, Iowa, and Amer Speck, Dayton, Kentucky; a sister, Mrs. Dora Schultz, Grinnell, Iowa, and 21 grandchildren.

A daughter and a brother preceded him in death.

Funeral mass for Leo Speck, 76, of Hayden, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday from St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Four Corners with Father James Dede, pastor, officiating.   Burial in the church cemetery.

Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the Diekhoff and Vance Funeral Home, North Vernon.   Friends may call at the funeral home at any time.

Mr. Speck, a retired farmer and carpenter, died Monday at Schneck Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for a week.
