Lucy Vivian Laycock Mills

Born: October 7, 1914     Died: June 20, 1980

Lucy V. Mills, a life-long resident of St. James passed away June 20, 1980, in the Phelps County Memorial Hospital.   She was 69.

In 1971 she was united in marriage to Richard Mills.   She was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. James and prior to retirement she was employed at the Missouri Veterans Home as Custodial Supervisor.

Mrs. Mills is survived by her husband, Richard, two brothers, Tom and Bill Laycock of St. James; and two sisters, Viola Roster, St. James and Venita Evans, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Beulah (Dexter) Laycock, her first husband, George Oberkrom; one son, Bobby Oberkrom; two brothers, George and Charles Laycock, and two sisters, Ollie Hughes and Florence Jones.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 22, at 1 p.m. in the James & Gahr Chapel with the Reverend Floyd Gentry officiating.   Miss Corrinne Stumpf soloist, and Mrs. Alex Pompe, Jr., organist, provided the music.   Pallbearers were friends and relatives.   Interment was in the Steelville Cemetery in Steelville, Missouri.

Arrangements were under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary of St. James.
