He was a retired barber and had served as a conservation officer and as an employee of the United States Corps of Engineers. &npsb; He was a member of Hayden Baptist Church.
A Jackson County resident for most of his life, he was born December 27, 1901, in Jennings County, a son of the late Alexander H. and Lola Mae Carr Kain.
On November 14, 1922, in Santa Rosa, California, he married Lois Eileen Zirkle, who survives.
Other survivors include three grandchildren: Mrs. Jerry (Kathy) Carr and Jon Michael Kain, both of Columbus, and Mrs. Jerry (Beckie) Tidd of Martinsville; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Otto H. Kain, Jr.; a brother, Willard; and a sister, Mrs. Chauncey (Anice) Davis.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday from Voss Chapel with Dr. Stewart H. Silver and the Reverend Edward Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Voss Mortuary after 3 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. Monday until time of the service. Memorials may be designated for First Baptist Church or Cancer Fund.
