Ruth E. Cobbs Reeves

Born: June 5, 1877     Died: December 14, 1943

Mrs. Ruth Cobbs Reeves, age sixty-six, a resident of Seymour for several years, died Tuesday following an illness which lasted approximately six weeks.   Death was due to cerebral arteriosclerosis.   Mrs. Reeves, who was a resident of Hayden before she came to Seymour to continue her profession as a registered nurse, lived at 527 East Third Street.

She was born on June 5, 1877, in this state, the daughter of Jesse and Agnes McLane Cobbs, both of whom preceded her in death.   On August 31, 1919, she was married in Jennings County to Morton H. Reeves, who died on April 24, 1940.

A graduate of Sibley Hospital, Washington, District of Columbia, Mrs. Reeves had taken postgraduate work at Poly Clinic, New York City, and had held a responsible position at the Indiana State School for the Deaf at Indianapolis.   She was also a former Jennings County health nurse, and had won wide recognition for her excellent work as a nurse.   Prior to her death she had been on private duty here attending the late Miss Nina Ewing.

She was a member of the Hayden Methodist Church, and had many friends in the Hayden community as well as throughout Seymour, where her conscientious devotion to her patients was noted by all who knew her.

One brother, Oliver Cobbs, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida survives.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Voss Mortuary, and at 2:30 o'clock from the Hayden Methodist Church.   Burial in the Hayden Cemetery.
