Stella Magdalena Elsner Vogel

Stella Magdalena Elsner Vogel, 75, of North Vernon died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2003, at her home.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Four Corners in Jennings County. She was a member of Rosary Society, Jolly 12 Card Club for over 40 years, TOPS for over 25 years and cemetery sexton for over 20 years. She graduated in 1945 from Hayden High School. Mrs. Vogel was a volunteer for blood mobile for 35 years and St. Vincent de Paul Society and visited shut-ins. She was a church volunteer and with the prayer line and birth line. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making rosaries, cooking, gardening and canning.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Reverend Joe Brown officiating. Calling will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Vance, Fisher and Sawyer Funeral Home, with Rosary service at 8 p.m. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Jennings County December 11, 1927, Mrs. Vogel was the daughter of Henry and Rose Megel Elsner. She married Edward Vogel May 21, 1947.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Theresa Simmons of Seymour, Pamela Cole of Indianapolis and Patricia Cassidy of Shelbyville; sons, Dennis and Richard Vogel, both of North Vernon and Fred Vogel of Seymour; sisters, Martha Hinnefeld of Seymour and Agnes M. Cardinal and Helen Hauersperger, both of North Vernon; brothers, Carl J. Elsner of Texas, Paul J. Elsner of Greensburg and Oscar A. Elsner of North Vernon; grandchildren, Brian and Jennifer Simmons, Debra Simmons McLaughlin, Aaron and David Miles, Susan Miles Ellenwood, Daniel, Mark, Kolbe, Jessica, Katherine and Xavier Vogel, Suzanne Vogel Dippold, Deanna and Matthew Cole and Rachael and Lauren Cassidy; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ambrose and Omer Elsner; a sister, Irene Vogel; and a grandchild, Jacob Vogel.
