A native of Bedford, he was owner-operator of Rose Keepers in New Albany. He was the creator of the Elizabeth Taylor rose, the Louisville Lady rose, the Jane Pauley rose, and the Big Duke rose.
He was former owner of Weddle Amusement Company and the old State Street News, both of New Albany. He was a member of the Louisville Rose Society and the New Albany Elks Club, and he was consulting rosarian for the American Rose Society since 1967.
He was married to Aurelia Speck Weddle, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Joy Creps, New Albany; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, New Albany, with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
