Mr. Speck was a native of Jennings County, son of the late Leo and Mary Leflett Speck.   He was a World War II veteran and employed as a carpenter.   He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, the former Opal Hauersperger, whom he married September 17, 1946, at Four Corners; two sons, James and Gary, and a daughter, Susan.   Also surviving are two brothers, Floyd Speck, North Vernon, and Delmar Speck, Pinellas Park, Florida, and one sister, Audrey Colvin, Seymour.   A sister preceded him in death.
