William Logan Mills

Born: February 3, 1900     Died: September 10, 1971


William L. Mills, son of the late A. R. and Rose Mills, was born in Neoga, Illinois on Febraury 3, 1900 and passed away at his home in St. James on September 10, 1971 at the age of 71 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl Mills of St. James.   He married Geneva Hauersperger on September 1, 1927.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva, three sons, Richard of St. James, William of Barrington, Illinois, and Mark of Chicago, Illinois; one daughter, Rose Mary Stuba, of Chicago, Illinois, two sisters, Violet Herriot of St. James and Edith Weirouch of South Bend, Indiana; two brothers, Lawrence Mills of Cape Coral, Florida and Frank Mills of Hoopeston, Illinois, and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Mills was retired as Printing Superintendent of the American Ranke Note Company, a position he held for 38 years.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, on the Official Board, Methodist Men’s Club, Lions Club and the Fishermen’s Association.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, September 12, 1971 at 3:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Reverend Elmer Altoff and the Reverend Christopher Pelenic officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were Charles Vetter, Emmett Dillon, Ford Hughes, Ira Wilson, Bernard Verkamp and Bernard Grotha.

Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery in St. James under the direction of the James-Gahr Mortuary of St. James.
